James Connolly was a trade unionist all his working life. Wherever he worked throughout the world he was a member of a trade union. He was also elected to various positions within trade unions. James Connolly understood exploitation in the workplace and the need for workers to organise collectively. The James Connolly Society has a long tradition of working closely with the trade union movement to improve the rights of workers in the workplace. Collective action by a united workforce is key to ending exploitation in the workplace. That also requires the support of the global trade union movement.
The James Connolly Society is a working class organisation that promotes the politics of James Connolly and supports working class collective action in the community and the workplace. By affiliating to the James Connolly Society at branch, regional or national level, trade unions across the world can build common cause to challenge exploitation and promote the politics of James Connolly.
